Need
Kids are some of the most amazing people on earth…bright, young and full of promise.
Yet, millions of them are struggling to keep up in school.
some quick facts
- 30% of students read below grade level.
- Approximately 30% of students have periodic attention problems and executive function deficits (impulse control, cognitive flexibility, and working memory) that affect performance.
- Approximately 11% of students have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. Drug therapy for ADHD is not effective for 20-30% of sufferers.
- Approximately 3 million children have a learning disability that requires special education in school. Many of these disabilities are caused by deficits in Executive Function, the cognitive control of thoughts, actions, and behaviors.
- Roughly 10 million students could benefit from a cognitive training intervention.
“It costs 60% more to educate a student with a learning disability. At a time when funding of public education is being squeezed, we urgently need to address this cost. Affordable solutions exist to help these children close the achievement gap and correct root problems.”
